Girl Scout Designed Pillow Dresses

Our local girl scout troop made over 50 pillow case dresses for our next trip to Haiti. Last time they donated bracelets that they had created. It is hard to describe how these extra acts of kindness affect people. I think the picture below says it best. Thank you to everyone who makes Santo Clinic a reality.

140 Patients Today!

April 21st, 2015

We had a great turn out at Duval today, 140 patients seen on this 96 degree day. With a little rain this evening it will hopefully allow our crew to get some sleep and prepare for a day of clinic in Jonc tomorrow.

New Recruits- Inspiring and Perspiring

Every time a new volunteer starts getting serious about coming along on a trip to Haiti its pretty exciting. I remember the first time we met Seamus. He caught on to Creole quickly and it didn't matter where he worked in Clinic he was just there to help. When he returned home after that trip he was inspired enough as a 17 year old high school Senior to take on the project of "Nets For Haiti". It was an ambitious project, raise $5000 and get Nets to the place that will make the most difference. Here we are in Haiti distributing and actually getting them into the homes of our neighbors. Words can't express how gratifying it is to see this come to be. What an exceptional thing to have accomplished.  I look at the picture of the smiling new recruits and those that have made the trip a time or two and wonder just what they will be inspired to do.

Thank you for everyone who donated!

Shopping Angst...

I am standing in line waiting to buy presents for my family and friends. It seems like the choices are endless and so are the lines.  The stores are full of the latest gadgets and the I pad that is just a little lighter and improved from last year. Don't get me wrong, this is a wonderful time of year. The real reason for Christmas is there if you look for it. I'm just reminded of the look on the little girls face when she received her first new pair of flip flops. It was my last day of clinic 3 months ago. If there was a caption for the photo in my head it would be "priceless". There are lots of reasons not to go to Haiti. But, what if you did?

Sunday / Day to rest? Not in Haiti

Sunday is a day to rest for some, but not in Haiti. Since clean water is not available every where it has to be hauled in buckets and jugs.  The necessities of life don't come easy here.
